The Sportklinik Hellersen is one of Germany's leading specialty clinics for orthopedics, trauma surgery and sports medicine. Nearly 50,000 patients come to us each year to be treated by our cadre of top physicians. Our expertise ranges from orthopedic injuries and diseases to endoprosthesis implantation. As a sports medicine examination center of the German Sports Federation (LSB) and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the highly specialized team of physicians also advises athletes and examines them for health and performance. We have sport in our genes - our beginnings
Thanks to the professional cooperation of the individual departments, you, dear patients, receive the best possible interdisciplinary care. And we have been doing this for more than 75 years. We have specialized right from the start. At that time, health insurance companies did not yet cover the costs of sports accidents. In order to provide financial support for injured athletes, our sponsor, Sporthilfe NRW e. V., was founded in 1946. The athletes came exclusively to us for treatment - at that time still a small department in the district hospital. Due to the enormous increase in the number of athletes, a separate hospital was finally built in 1970 - today's Sportklinik Hellersen.

We have maintained our connection to sports to this day. Whether as team physicians or in the care of soccer and Bundesliga referees - our doctors are at home on the playing field. Of course, we do not only treat professionals today. In the spirit of fair play, every patient - whether recreational or non-athletic - with an orthopedic illness or injury is welcome here. And he or she is guaranteed to benefit from our experience in top-level sports. Here, expertise goes hand in hand with state-of-the-art therapy methods such as minimally invasive procedures and arthroscopic surgery.
Our daily motivation is the health of our patients. In doing so, we do not focus on a sprint, but rather approach holistic therapy with endurance in order to safely reach the finish line even after a marathon.

A prime example of this is the interdisciplinary spine center at the Sportkinik Hellersen. Our team of spine specialists works hand in hand. Due to the close cooperation between conservative orthopedics, spine surgery and special spine surgery, you can rest assured: surgery will only be performed after all conservative treatment options have been ruled out. Our expertise ranges from herniated discs and spinal stenosis to highly complex interventions for curvatures or instabilities of the spine - such as scoliosis.

With their many years of experience, they can accurately assess up to what point joint-preserving measures make sense and get you back in top shape with an artificial joint.
